Everyone at SDT could not be more excited for balletLORENT’s upcoming visit to Dundee Rep performing a new piece exploring the complexities of bringing a new baby into the family.

Having seen SDT in the past you may remember the award winning LUXURIA and tenderhook which were choreographed by balletLORENT’s Artistic Director Liv Lorent.

Her new piece, Blood, Sweat & Tears, is inspired by Liv’s own experience of motherhood and the extraordinary transformations a couple undergoes as they learn to cope with becoming a family.  Tender and powerful, with movement inspired by both ballet and wrestling, Blood, Sweat & Tears is an exploration of the darkness and light of extreme love.

Once again, Liv has teamed up with costumer designer Paul Shriek, who designed luscious costumes for LUXURIA and tenderhook and what’s more, former SDT dancers Phillippa White and Baptiste Bourgougnon will be returning to The Rep stage to perform as part of balletLORENT.

Having just finished a run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a duet from the piece, Blood, Sweat and Tears has received rave reviews.

"If you are looking for a highly skilled, innovative performance, look no further than Liv Lorent" Broadway Baby

"There’s always a moment... in Liv Lorent’s choreography when her ability to translate inner emotional turmoils into innovative movement makes you gasp." Sunday Herald

"lush, rich and sensuous" Fringe Guru

Blood, Sweat and Tears promises to be a treat for anyone who loved LUXURIA and tenderhook and anyone who loves ravishingly beautiful dance

5 Stars from Edinburgh Guide

20 August 2010 by Vicky

"At its theatrical heart, true emotional expression is narrated through seemless, shifting choreographic moods, from gentle, duets, energetic quartets to fast paced, synchronised ensemble sequences.  This short, sharp, forty minute dance-drama is inventive, innovative and visually stunning - this company just gets better and better." Edinburgh Guide
